Early Treatment

When is the best time for your child to see the orthodontist? The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial evaluation at age 7, but we recommend you see us when you or your dentist have a concern. This may be before or considerably after age 7. While most children seen in our office before adolescence aren’t ready for orthodontic treatment, there are several problems that can and should be corrected with “interceptive” or “early” treatment. These problems include: Crossbite of the front and back teeth, severe crowding, protrusive upper front teeth, impacted teeth, missing or extra teeth, or a thumb sucking habit

Adult Treatment

Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. Nationally, one of every four patients in orthodontic treatment is over 21. The benefits of adult orthodontic treatment are numerous and include: improved self-esteem, a more youthful smile, improved cleanability, decreased trauma (including wear) from an improper bite, improved function (chewing), and preparation for the replacement of missing teeth by your family dentist.

At your initial evaluation, we will discuss your goals and concerns as well as discuss all available treatment options. We will also work closely with your family dentist and other dental specialists to establish a comprehensive treatment plan specifically tailored to give you optimal results.

Surgical Treatment

Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. Often, these abnormalities cause difficulty associated with chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Orthognathic surgery corrects these problems and, in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, will improve the overall appearance of the facial profile.

Your orthodontist will consider surgical orthodontic treatment for non-growing adult patients with improper bites and those with facial, aesthetic concerns. Jaw growth is usually completed by age 16 for girls and 18 for boys. All growth must be completed before jaw surgery can be performed. However, the pre-surgical tooth movements can begin one to two years prior to these ages.

Orthognathic surgery may be unnecessary if orthodontic treatment can correct the problem. With the latest advances in orthodontics, this is sometimes the case. We will determine if orthognathic surgery is the correct treatment option for you.

Invisalign

Dr. Lee is a Certified Invisalign Provider
Consider Invisalign to get the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted — without braces. A complimentary consultation with Dr. Lee can determine if Invisalign is right for you.

Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective.  Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case
